    The list of nominees is kept secret for fifty years. However some of the nominees are known and include Nominees believed to be on the 2009 Nobel Prize list are US President Barack Obama and French President Nicholas Sarkozy. Other known contenders for this year's prize include former French-Colombian hostage Ingrid Betancourt and Chinese dissident Hu Jia, who was also a front-runner in 2008.

    According to france24.com, The Cluster Munitions Coalition is also known to be on the list after it played a central role in getting nearly 100 countries to sign a treaty last year in Oslo banning cluster bombs.

    Other nominees are believed to be:

    * Macedonian humanitarian and artist Zivko Popovski-Cvetin, nominated by the Macedonian government
    * Austrian children's charity SOS-Kinderdorf International, put forward by the Austrian government
    * American Greg Mortenson, nominated by six members of the U.S. Congress for his Asian school building charity
    * Vietnamese religious leader Thich Quang Do, put forward when a campaign recruited lawmakers to nominate him
    * American musician Pete Seeger.

    I don't hate Obama and I support his policies like health care reform but he hasn't done anything as significant to get a noble peace prize. Others that got noble peace prizes but shouldn't have are Kofi Annan and Woodrow Wilson. Kofi Annan is a former sectary general of the UN and also was head of peacekeeping missions during the genocides in Bosnia and Rwanda. Woodrow Wilson was president of United States from 1913 to 1921. He was known to hate blacks and was a fan of the movie birth of a nation. He also arrested thousands of socialists, anarchists, and communists during the red scare with the espionage and sedition act.

    You guys have been annoying for years with your leftist "love Obama" (recent), anti 'right', anti orthodox (they can't possibly do anything right - let's have a secular country and be the 51st state)rants. You broadcast to the world and all Israel and Jew haters how much YOU do not love Israel. I've had it. I'm deleting you from my iTunes. Bye.

    For once I agree with Feiglin who recently said If I'm captured, don't negotiate my release.

    Glad you removed that entry with the gold links....
    You guys have NOT been annoying! Keep up the great podcasts. I guess some people have trouble understanding humor and respecting opinions. As for your love of Israel, you still live there, right?.... I just love a perfect democracy!!! Thank you for your input week after week, and keep up the great work.

    This is random, but recently took a poll in facebook on which president should have received the noble peace prize but didn't get it. The choices were Lyndon Johnson, Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman, and Ronald Reagan. I voted for Truman who got 3.5%. Reagan for some reason got 68 percent. How is that possible when he supported Saddam during the Iran Iraq war and even gave them technology for chemical weapons. There also was the Iran Contra Scandal. He supported leaders like Efrain Montt of Guatemala in Latin America who used to destroy entire villages accused of being Communist sympathizers. Reaganomics has been a huge failure especially with deregulation. He also substantially increased the debt.

    Of the 4 choices, you voted for the only president to ever order the use of an atomic bomb, then there's the president who escalated the Vietnam War, there's the president who ordered 100,000 innocent Japanese Americans imprisoned during World War 2, and you're wondering why 68% voted for the president whose policies helped end the Cold War?

    By the way, I have no problem with Obama being awarded the prize.

    I have problems with Obama getting the prize. He may end up being a great president, or at least a highly competent one dealing with daunting challenges. But before getting a prize premised on great accomplishments, let him realize those great accomplishments first.

    This prize was, in a way, an insult to Obama and an insult to the prize itself, the latter by trivializing it and politicizing it.
