Regarding Goldstone's motives, below is a link to an interesting article from a British magazine.
The gist is that Goldstone is, and always was, an opportunist. Also, the article says he's angling for a UN post. Read the whole thing, however. It's very readable and interesting:

One question on another subject: What General Assembly was Charley talking about? I know of no "General Assembly" in Washington, DC. The only GA I've ever heard of is at the United Nations, in New York.

Well, I guess Charley wasn't lying when he said he rarely reads the comments. He never answered our question. But, never mind, I discovered the answer by accident on www.jewlicious.com. Here's their description:
